Notes: Then in the 1980s, some contact was made (a telephone call to Bill [006] ) and in 1987, Ella ( [026] ) and I visited Toronto and were very well entertained by Bob (aka Bertie) and his wife Almira....In 1987, we also met Barbara's daughter Yvonne, an 11 yr old schoolgirl, Bob's granddaughter. Bob and Almira and also Barbara have since died. (Almira was a recognised Canadian artist, commissioned by Calgary Government to paint pictures of Grain Elevators in the prairies of Canada.) Sandra Nicol [173] (usually called Sandy) is a teacher for special needs children at a high school in Toronto.
We will never know the full story about Bertie Nicol; he discovered after
she died that his mother had in fact lived much of the remainder of her
life only two or three miles away from him! He was not at all bitter
about his unusual history..."
